The Apolie drop-in centre was created to address the needs of Porta Palazzo’s immigrant population, many of whom are informal workers, illegal in their status and unprotected.

Many immigrants find it difficult to break into the formal job market without help. The centre helps them develop the socio-cultural skills necessary to access both employment and training opportunities, such as confidence, cultural understanding and self-presentation skills, and helps them to understand the complexities of the Italian employment market.
Users are encouraged to make career plans and identify skills needs for the jobs they aspire to; the centre then tries to connect them to training that will equip them with these skills, leading to sustainable careers.
